KKB are sponsoring roller hockey-playing siblings Amelia and Jack Thomas in their bid for glory at the World Roller Games in September. They have been selected to represent Team GB at the Rink Hockey World Championships at the World Skate Games held in Novara near Milan.

The pair rely on support of family and friends to fund their participation in roller hockey. KKB’s sponsorship contribution will help fund their equipment, travel expenses, accommodation and training needs in the build-up to the tournament. Their father, Darrell, has worked as a machine operator for KKB Group since 2018.

“Being a niche sport roller hockey is unsurprisingly somewhat underfunded and supporting Amelia and Jack gives us the opportunity to make a real difference to the preparation of Team GB,” said KKB’s Managing Director, Del Bhanot, “We believe providing social value is a key responsibility as a local employer and we are always keen to support and encourage community initiatives and organisations.”

KKB Group is a partner of community relations organisation Cohesion Plus and provides funds to support Essex-based foodbank Bobby’s Big Heart.

Amelia and Jack’s recent selections to represent Team GB marks the most significant milestones in their careers in the sport. Amelia’s journey began at Herne Bay United RH&SC which she represented in tournaments throughout Europe before transferring to RHC Invicta. Playing in the key position of goalkeeper she earned recognition in national leagues and championships which led to the opportunity to live and play in Portugal, firstly with CH Carvalhos where she was scouted by AE Fisíca D for the up and coming 2024-25 Season.  Amelia had her debut representing England at the European Championships where they gained their place to compete in the World Championships.

Older brother, Jack, who also plays goalkeeper, discovered roller hockey through an after-school club. He joined Herne Bay United RH&SC with notable achievements including multiple National Cup wins and his team qualifying to compete in the Eurockey Cup for Under 15 and 17’s in Spain, a successful three-year loan to Peterborough RHC, before moving to RHC Invicta where he competes at the highest level in England – National Premier League where they finished 4th this season. He hopes to make his international debut in the World Skate Games next month.

The World Skate Games will feature some familiar faces from the Paris Olympics from other roller sports. Matches will be streamed live – we will be posting links on social media as they become available.
