KKB joined CEMEX’ approved supply chain in 2024. Following the successful delivery of two aggregate processing projects in CEMEX’ Swinderby quarry and Dagenham plant we won a mini-tender to deliver a load and haul project at the Hatfield quarry of the international construction products supplier. The works involved the excavation and relocation of the top strata of ground to expose an area of minerals for extraction/processing.

We set-up a temporary compound at the site to locate plant including a 50-tonne excavator, a dozer, three dump trucks, a tractor and a 9000-litre dust suppression unit. Our site team included a Project Manager, Site Supervisor and six trained machine operators and labourers.

Topsoil and subsoil were excavated to depths of 300mm and 350mm respectively and relocated to storage bunds on site. Following this we excavated 35,000 tonnes of overburden material to a dept of 3000mm. All work areas were sprayed using a dust-suppression system to minimise dust emissions throughout.

Testimonials

We were really impressed with all aspects of KKB’s performance on this load and haul project. Excellent communications with their Project Manager and Site Supervisor ensured the works were well organised while the experience and expertise of their site operatives helped deliver the project safely, on-time and to-specification
