After another successful tender process, KKB was awarded the DHC2 Power station enabling contract.
The works consisted of Excavation and Soil Complex Sorting of 35,000m3 of soils under KKB’s Mobile Treatment Licence. The contract was undertaken in extremely challenging conditions and was delivered to a strict programme and within budget.
As part of the contract, KKB Soil Stabilised and re-engineered 25,000m3 of soils to form 2 x 40,000m2 working platforms and also re-engineered 10,000m3 of PFA
Through its network of preferred suppliers, we also sourced, imported and placed 80,000 tonnes of 6F5 to form piling mats for the working platforms.
The most challenging element of the contracted works included the excavation of 10,000m3 of wet PFA which was treated with lime and cement and reengineered back into the lagoons under winter conditions.
“Throughout the period, KKB remained professional in their response to these changes, worked flexibly with Drax and other Drax appointed contractors within the KKB CDM area, and completed the work within the agreed timescales and to the expected quality.”
