KKB Group, following a successful competitive tendering process, were engaged by Sisk as their Tier 1 Contractor to deliver the Phase 1 Earthworks package at the prestigious Chatham Waters Project. The works have been delivered ahead of programme and within budget.
The works consisted of bulk earthworks of 5,000m3 and stockpile management, 11,000m3 of concrete breakout and crush with the site won material utilised on site as a capping layer to the 22,000m3 of imported material, placed and compacted in layers, to 3 different level plateaus, with full CBR testing.
Other works included the removal of 3 no. 30M floodlight towers, utilising a 90T crane, the management and storing of 80,000Ltrs of purged water and the management of contaminated soils.
During the works a 20M x 5M air-raid shelter was uncovered which was demolished with the materials generated processed/recycled and utilised as engineered fill for the created void.
All works were completed ahead of programme and within budget. Based on the successful delivery of the Phase 1 works Sisk have subsequently negotiated with KKB Group for the delivery of Phase 2.
“We are very impressed with the professional approach of KKB Group to the management of all aspects of the earthworks and remediation for this project and look forward to working with the team again.”
