The works were on a 2.5 Hectare site of a former paper mill in Sittingbourne, Kent. KKB Group were engaged to take up the floor slab, remove all obstructions to 2 metres depth and reduce the levels to the Clients required depths. Once done, all resultant concrete materials were crushed, and all soils were processed/ screened, with the resulting materials to be used on site.
Once the materials had been processed to the required specifications they were utilised to bring the site levels to the required formation levels and the construction of a Pile Mat to enable the commencement of Piling operations.
The works involved the crushing of 25,000m3 of concrete and earthwork ‘cut and fill’ of 40,000m3 of materials.
Given the close proximity to residential properties, all works were conducted with full dust control measures which were closely monitored throughout the works. This resulted in no complaints being received throughout the operational period.
25% of the site area was under archaeological regulatory control and all operations were conducted under an archaeological ‘Permit to Dig’ system with an archaeologist in attendance at all times.
Works were completed to programme and within budget.
‘KKB were conscientious and delivered their work safely and to a very good standard. We would
be pleased to work with them again’
